Yvonne - Thank you for the feedback. Like most French, this Pomerol is likely better received by those with a trained or mature taste in wine. French wines are typically subtle in flavor and character in my opinion. I hope you are enjoying it. This is a great treat in French reds.

I am drinking this right now with less than half a bottle to go. So your remark that this wine requires alot of breathe time is most timely. I shall come back to it later ;)

First impressions: I thought it has an intense aroma about it . On first sniff, the high notes come on readily. Followed by notes of oak and herb. Texture is full on the palate and lingers pleasantly long after.

And you're probably right. This bottle might just be too sophiscated for me, being an absolute novice learning to learn how to taste.

OK, got to go back to my grange-neuve ;)

Chateau Grange-Neuve produced about 39,000 bottles of the 2000 vintage from its 15-acre Pomerol vineyard. Hachette (2004) described this sumptuous wine by stating, "It has a lovely dark and intense garnet colour and, when the glass is swirled, reveals notes of fruits (cherry, blackcurrant and soft fruits) and a toasty oak. The palate is full and warm. The integrated oak combines well with the ripe grapes. The good consistency between the bouquet and the palate makes this seem a very pleasant wine." 12.5% ABV.
